ClickHouse

Counts a billion rows before your coffee cools.
Connecting
Lily uses ClickHouse's HTTP interface.
| Field | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Host | localhost | |
| Port | 8123 | HTTP. Change it to 8443 when you turn on HTTPS |
| Database | default | |
| User | default | |
| Password | Kept in the Keychain |
- Use HTTPS encrypts the connection. The password is sent with every request, so use HTTPS or an SSH tunnel for any server that is not on your machine.
- URLs:
clickhouse://(set HTTPS in the form;clickhouses://does not turn it on).
What works
- Browsing, the query editor, results, charts, export and the AI features.
- Database menu to switch databases (a database is a schema here).
- Editing in the grid: updates and deletes are sent as
ALTER TABLE … UPDATEandALTER TABLE … DELETEmutations. - Trace Live and recording from
system.processes, withKILL QUERY. - Text Explain.
- As a target for moving data: new tables use
MergeTree.
Limits
ClickHouse has no transactions, so:
- grid edits, Run in Transaction and SQL files run statement by statement, without rollback;
- Import file… and fake data refuse ClickHouse tables, because they could not be undone halfway.
Also: no foreign keys (no ER lines), no Health Check, no visual plan, Blocks or Top, and new databases are created with a query.
