Privacy

Lily DB has no account and no analytics. Your connections, queries and results stay on your Mac. A few things can be shared, and each one is off until you turn it on.

Opt-in sharing

Settings › Sharing (also asked once during the first-launch tour):

• Share failures with the developer. When a query fails, a Share with the developer button appears. You see a preview of the report before sending. It contains the app and macOS versions, the engine, the kind of error and the server's message with values removed. The query is included only if you tick it, with its values replaced by ?. Nothing is sent without that click.
• Anonymous daily usage count. Once a day: how many times Lily was opened, how many queries ran (in total and per engine), and how often you used Ask, Understand, Investigate, dashboards, Trace, migrations and export. Numbers only. Settings shows the exact payload.
• News and betas by email. Your email address, confirmed by a link, and Stop and delete my email to leave.

These use a random install ID, created when you turn the first switch on and deleted when you turn the last one off. Generate new ID replaces it.

What else talks to the network

• Your databases, and AWS for DynamoDB.
• Updates: Sparkle checks getcortexlabs.com once a day for a new version (you can turn this off).
• iCloud, only if you turn on iCloud sync, and only connection details without secrets.
• Docker Hub and Microsoft's registry, when the Playground pulls an image.
• Apple's language model download, once, for Grounding.
• Your AI tool's provider, when you use AI features, through your own account. See What the AI sees.

Send Feedback… opens a draft email in your mail app with the app version, macOS version and the last few error messages. You see it and decide whether to send it.

Secrets

Passwords, keys and passphrases live in the macOS Keychain. They are never written to Lily's files, exported, synced or sent to an AI.
