Your first connection

Everyone needs an introduction.
With the wizard
- In the connection manager, click New Connection.
- Pick the engine. The port and default user are filled in for you.
- Fill in the server details. For a URL you already have, click Paste connection URL instead (see below).
- Click Test connection. Lily connects without saving and shows the time it took, or the server's own error message.
- Click Save connection.
Then double-click the card, or click Connect.
Check the Database field
The Database field may already hold a value when you open the form. Make sure it names the database you want, or clear it. For PostgreSQL and Trino you can leave it empty and pick one after connecting.
If you leave the name empty, Lily picks one: the file name for SQLite, DynamoDB · <region> for DynamoDB, the database name for SQL engines and host:port for the rest.
With a connection URL
Click Paste connection URL in the form and Lily fills host, port, user, password, database and TLS from the URL in your clipboard:
text
postgres://app:secret@db.internal:5432/shop?sslmode=requirePasting replaces every field except the name and group. Paste first, then set the environment, color, read-only and SSH. The Connections page lists the schemes Lily understands.
Next
- The workspace: what you see once you are connected.
- Connections: environments, read-only, groups and sharing.
- SSH and TLS: reaching a database behind a bastion.
